Viltrox EF-E II 0.71x Lens Mount Adapter for Canon EF to Sony E

The Viltrox 0.71x Lens Mount Adapter offers the capability to mount a full-frame Canon EF-mount lens onto a Sony E-mount camera. During this process, the adapter's optics work to optimize the apparent angle of view of the connected lens, providing a one-stop increase for the camera across the lens's aperture range.

When connecting a lens intended for 35mm film or similarly-sized full-frame camera sensors to a Sony E-mount camera, the image projected would be larger than the APS-C sized sensor can accommodate. This results in an in-camera "crop factor" as only the center portion of the image is captured. The adapter addresses this by condensing the light from a full-frame lens onto the APS-C sensor, effectively reducing the crop factor and providing an additional one-stop increase in light for each f-stop setting of the lens.

For lenses with autofocus and camera-controlled aperture functions, the adapter is designed to enable the use of these features. Additionally, if the attached lens can generate Exif metadata when used with a directly compatible camera, this adapter allows the preservation of such information when capturing images with a Sony E-mount camera and the adapter.

Its detachable tripod foot features a 1/4"-20 accessory thread, facilitating direct attachment to tripods or quick release plates with 1/4"-20 mounts. For Sony E-mount cameras featuring both phase-detection and contrast-detection autofocus, a toggle switch is positioned along the side of the adapter to enable these autofocus settings with a connected Canon EF-mount lens. Proper selection of the toggle switch is essential before placing the adapter on the camera to apply the desired autofocus setting.
