Canadian World Photographic Cup Exhibition in Edmonton Photo Exhibit

Let yourself be inspired by the extraordinary photographs that represented Canada on the world stage at this year’s World Photographic Cup. This stunning collection will be on display at McBain Camera in Edmonton from July 16-30, 2025.

You will be moved by the visual storytelling of Canada’s photographs, including six that were Top 10 in the world earning a Gold medal in Sports and 4th place in Portrait Illustration for Edmonton photographer, Renée Robyn, This collection also features additional local photographers like Railene Hooper, Kari Carter, Cassandra Jones and Rachel Ross whose stunning images endured three rounds of curation for the opportunity to represent Canada.

“A World of Inspiration” – Saturday, July 26th, 2pm

McBain Camera is also excited to invite photographers to the presentation “A World of Inspiration” on Saturday, July 26th at 2pm.

This digital presentation of visual excellence showcases all the medal winning images from the World Photographic Cup. Team Members will be on hand so after seeing the global photography learn more about WPC Team Canada and how all Canadian photographers from coast to coast are welcome to submit images. The World Photographic Cup — a prestigious global competition often referred to as the “Olympics of photography,” serves as the ultimate arena for photographers to compete as a team and showcase their talent on an international stage.

At the exhibition you will also see the the remarkable works from past Canadian World Medalists. Don’t miss the chance to celebrate Canadian talent up close and experience our nation's spirit of creativity and excellence through this striking collection of world-class photographs.

Join us for a fun and creative film photography adventure around the scenic Michener Area in Red Deer! Each attendee will receive one roll of 35mm film—your choice of colour or black & white—to capture the day through a fresh lens.

1x roll of 35mm film will be provided with the cost of the ticket. Developing and printing of the film costs will not be covered and are up to each attendee to cover.

We’ll provide a scavenger hunt list filled with unique photo prompts to spark your creativity and help guide your walk through the charming streets, lakeside views, and hidden corners of the surrounding area.

Join instructor, Carmen Therriault, for Mastering Your Mirrorless Camera! In a small classroom environment, learn the art of storytelling through photography, emphasizing core standard features of interchangeable lens cameras, including shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and white balance. We’ll learn how to use light, focus, and composition to create unique individual stories with every exposure.

This is a 2-session workshop:

Light & Land: A Photography Retreat with Evan Will Guided Tour

Join landscape and fine art photographer Evan Will for a two-day guided photography adventure through the breathtaking landscapes of Banff and the surrounding National Parks. Departing before sunrise from Canmore, AB on Saturday, September 20th, this small-group experience is designed for photographers looking to explore iconic mountain scenery, refine their creative vision, and connect with nature.

Over the course of two immersive days, the group will visit a curated selection of stunning locations—such as Lake Louise, Peyto Lake, Bow Lake, Emerald Lake, Takakkaw Falls, Marble Canyon, and others across Banff, Yoho, Kootenay, or Kananaskis—adapting the itinerary based on light and weather for the best photographic opportunities. From sweeping vistas to serene alpine lakes, you’ll capture some of the Rockies’ most awe-inspiring scenes, including a model shoot set in the landscape and an early morning bird blind session for nature enthusiasts.

Transportation from Canmore to all shooting locations is included, as are two prepared lunches and dinner on Saturday evening. The first day concludes with a group dinner in Canmore, followed by a post-production workshop at a local restaurant where you can review and refine your work. Day two begins early and wraps up by mid-afternoon, giving you a well-rounded experience both in the field and in post-processing.
