Roland (Prototype?) Film Camera with 75mm F3.5 Anastigmat Lens (AS IS) Used
A rather unique version of a very rare camera, that to our best estimate is a Type 1 camera, but with a few Type 2 features and many very unique features for which we can find zero reference to anywhere. No meter & embossed logo from a Type 2 camera, no frame counter and the larger winder knob of a Type 1. It has Imperial markings for focusing distances that go from infinity mark, then 100', and end at the closest marking of 4'. The only reference we can find to any other camera with Imperial markings starts at 80" and ends at 3.3'. All other references show this camera with 15 marks for distance, this camera has 12. The focus distance scale does not have a dividing line as some cameras do. It has no depth of field indications, nor an engraved serial number on the front under the lens. It does have a matching serial number stamped into the body and inside the back. Now the fun bit, the lens is a 75mm f3.5 Anastigmat Germany, mounted to a Prontor II shutter that fires at speeds from 1/200 down to 1 second + B. It has also got a unique finger pull tabs to enable pulling the lens out and twisting it into the lock position for using along with an engraving under the lens "PULL OUT LENS BEFORE USING". Inside the back is a sticker for Burke & James Inc. - Chicago. After corresponding with Leitz Photographica Auction in Vienna, we have come to believe this is likely an extremely rare prototype.
Slow speeds off, self-timer sticks, quite nice glass with the usual bits of internal dust. Some fairly minor front element cleaning? marks. VF has some internal dust, otherwise clean. This camera is being sold as is, due to it's rarity.
