Blending RED's color expertise with Nikon's engineering, the Nikon ZR 6K Cinema Camera delivers cinematic quality in a compact body built for serious filmmakers. This Z-mount powerhouse supports a wide variety of lenses and integrates internal stabilization for smooth, stable footage with over 15 stops of dynamic range. Key features include 32-bit float audio, advanced autofocus, dual-base ISO, and up to 6K60 recording in REDCODE, Z-RAW, or ProRes RAW. The collaboration of Nikon and RED ensures strong workflow compatibility, offering REDCODE RAW R3D recording along with Nikon's N-RAW, ProRes RAW HQ/422 HQ, and efficient H.264 and H.265 formats. REDCODE RAW unlocks REDWideGamutRGB color space and Log3G10 curve for high-end cinematic results. The camera can capture up to 6K60, 4K120, and even 1080p240 for fluid high-speed slow motion. Audio is captured in pristine 32-bit float or 24-bit formats, with support for 48 kHz linear PCM for broad video compatibility.

Built-in configurable microphones offer five pickup patterns, while a line input and digital accessory shoe allow use of external mics like the ME-D10 shotgun, and a headphone jack ensures monitoring control. Recording is handled by a CFexpress Type B slot accessed through the battery door for portability, with an additional microSD slot for proxy files, and a micro-HDMI output supports external monitors or recorders. Nikon's deep learning autofocus detects up to nine subjects with automatic tracking for people, animals, and vehicles. The versatile Z mount accommodates a full range of NIKKOR Z lenses and adapts easily to third-party glass, supported by an ecosystem of accessories such as cages, microphones, handheld tools, and rigs from Nikon and partners like SmallRig. A 4" variable-angle touchscreen with DCI-P3 color gamut, 1000 cd/m squared brightness, and 3.07M-dot resolution makes monitoring simple and automatically flips when rotated vertically. Operators can load up to 10 LUTs for real-time preview, while in-body stabilization provides up to 7.5 stops of shake reduction with primes or zooms.

Dual-base ISO extends flexibility at 800/6400 in Log3G10 and N-Log, and shutter angle can be set in 15 steps between 5.6 and 360 degrees for exposure and motion control. Connectivity through the companion app and optional Frame.io cloud service streamlines asset management, post-production, and live streaming. The layout offers an easy stills/video switch, customizable Fn buttons, and shortcut access to filmmaking tools like zebra, waveform, focus peaking, grids, and touch AF. Power comes from an EN-EL15c battery or USB-C with external sources such as power banks or adapters. Despite its small mirrorless form, the ZR packs cinema-grade performance, ready for field shoots, gimbal work, drones, POV, steadycam, or vehicle-mounted shots with ease.
