The DJI Mic 3 gives creators of any skill level the ability to elevate the audio quality of their videos, interviews, and live streams with a simple, fully wireless microphone and recorder system that delivers crisp, detailed sound. Designed for use with DSLR and mirrorless cameras as well as iOS and Android smartphones, it captures clear, stable audio from up to 1312 feet away using its compact clip-on omnidirectional transmitters, which also record internally for added security. The tiny receiver mounts easily on a camera or plugs directly into a USB-C port on a smartphone or laptop, allowing quick setup so you can start recording professional audio in seconds.

The receiver connects to your camera through a 3.5mm TRS port using the included cable, or to a compatible mobile device with the included USB-C adapter. Timecode input and output ensure accurate synchronization between video and audio. Each transmitter embeds timecode data into its internal recordings to streamline postproduction and supports both 32-bit float and Lossless Audio modes for greater flexibility in editing. Dual-file recording saves an original version and an enhanced version of your audio for easy comparison and selection later.

You can choose between two gain modes depending on your recording environment. Automatic mode prevents distortion by managing unexpected volume spikes, while Dynamic mode adjusts levels smoothly to maintain consistent sound in more predictable settings. To further shape your sound, the system includes three vocal presets - regular, rich, and bright - allowing you to tailor the tone of your recordings. Two levels of noise cancellation are also available, with basic mode reducing background hums like air conditioners and strong mode cutting down on heavy ambient noise in busy environments.

A 1.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen paired with a control dial on the receiver makes it easy to adjust gain, check battery life, and switch modes at a glance. For deeper customization and firmware updates, the DJI Mimo app offers additional tools and fine-tuning options. As with other wireless systems, you can record in mono or stereo, but the DJI Mic 3 expands this flexibility further. When used in Quadraphonic mode with compatible Sony cameras and software, the system can output four independent audio tracks for creative mixing. Although the kit includes two transmitters and one receiver, the receiver can handle up to four transmitters simultaneously and synchronize audio with up to seven additional receivers for multi-camera or group recording setups.

The system operates across dual-band 2.4 and 5.8 GHz frequencies with automatic hopping to maintain a clean signal even in crowded wireless environments, while Bluetooth 5.4 ensures stable connections with mobile devices. The transmitters can also connect directly to DJI Osmo 360, Osmo Action 5 Pro, Osmo Action 4, and Osmo Pocket 3 cameras without the need for a receiver. Built-in rechargeable batteries keep the transmitters and receiver running throughout a full day of production, and smart power-saving features such as automatic sleep and power-off extend usage even further. The included charging case not only stores all components neatly but also boosts the system’s total runtime up to an impressive 28 hours, ensuring you stay powered through every shoot.
