Ricoh G900 II Digital Camera

The G900 II Digital Camera from Ricoh is the follow-up to their original rugged worksite model, expanding on its capabilities with added features like Full HD webcam functionality and compatibility with FlashAir for wireless transfers. Built to handle tough conditions, it is well-suited for a wide range of work environments such as construction, civil engineering, manufacturing, disaster response, healthcare, and other industrial settings. The camera is waterproof to a depth of 65.6 feet for up to two hours, freezeproof to temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit, shockproof from falls up to 6.8 feet, and crushproof against forces up to 220 pounds. It also resists dust and is chemically resistant to common disinfectants, making it ideal for heavy-duty, high-contact use.

Equipped with a 20-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor, the G900 II captures detailed still images and UHD 4K video. The sensor's design improves image clarity and reduces noise, with an ISO range of 1250 to 25600 for various lighting conditions. A built-in 5x optical zoom lens spans a 28 to 140mm equivalent range, making it flexible for wide-angle and telephoto shots. The lens is surrounded by a six-LED ring light, adjustable in ten brightness levels, that provides uniform lighting for close-ups. In Digital Microscope mode, it can focus as close as 0.4 inches. When connected via USB, the camera can be used as a Full HD webcam at 30 frames per second, with macro and ring light features offering more detailed visuals than a typical laptop camera during online meetings or video calls.

To support efficient data handling in the field, the G900 II includes a camera memo function that allows up to 100 text tags per image, each with up to 128 characters. Users can also attach a 30-second audio clip to an image or browse reference visuals like blueprints directly on the camera. A built-in barcode scanner allows barcode data to be embedded in images. Security is a priority with the G900 II, which offers password-based locking for key functions, including menu access, USB connection, and internal memory. Passwords can be entered manually or via barcode scan, with options for both user and admin access levels. Used SD cards can also be encrypted to protect image data in case of loss or theft.

The camera supports UHD 4K video at 30 frames per second, with Movie SR+ acting like an electronic gimbal to help stabilize footage. Standard Movie SR is also available for a more natural look, cropping the frame to reduce shake. For added utility, the LED ring light can also assist in barcode scanning mode. The camera features 6.5 gigabytes of internal storage and now supports FlashAir SD cards for wireless file transfers. The Transparency Guide function lets users overlay a previously taken image on the LCD to help replicate composition, useful for progress tracking. The overlay transparency can be set between 20 and 80 percent, and two images can be recalled at once for side-by-side comparison. The Image Clipping tool lets users compare related photos - such as site images and survey documents - on a computer screen. The camera supports a range of easy-to-read RT fonts for adding text directly onto images, and an electronic level helps keep shots aligned properly.

A built-in GPS module now supports both GPS and GLONASS systems for improved location accuracy. Indoors, the GPS Lock feature uses previously stored coordinates to tag new images, and users can sync the camera's internal clock with GPS time. The G900 II also records GPS data on images and video files and includes an electronic compass with full 360-degree coverage in 16 directional increments.
