The Ricoh GR IV, known as the ultimate compact snap shooter, is the newest model in the GR series, delivering outstanding image quality, a sharp prime lens, and superb portability. It features a new 25.7MP back-illuminated APS-C CMOS sensor with the GR ENGINE 7 processor, redesigned 28mm f/2.8-equivalent lens, faster autofocus, improved 5-axis shake reduction, expanded built-in memory, a higher-capacity battery, and refined focusing and shooting modes. A new GR WORLD app allows for wireless file transfers, remote control, and sharing. The updated sensor and processor combination provide cleaner images, reduced noise, one-stop better low-light performance, ISO up to 204800, and faster operation with a 0.6-second startup time. Autofocus is significantly faster and more accurate, aided by the lighter lens design, and includes precise face and eye detection with improved subject tracking. The unique Full Press Snap function instantly sets focus to a preset distance for quick street photography and can also be activated via the LCD touchscreen. The 5-axis Shake Reduction system compensates for up to 6 stops, enhancing handheld shooting in challenging light. Image Control provides 12 presets, including a new Cinema mode for nostalgic tones, with full customization of contrast, hue, saturation, grain, and other parameters. Program Auto Ex allows quick switching to Aperture or Shutter Priority via dials, and the new Snap Distance-Priority AE mode optimizes depth of field settings. The anti-aliasing filter-less sensor maximizes resolution, though moir reduction can be simulated via Shake Reduction when needed. Additional creative options include unlimited multi-exposure mode, varied metering choices with highlight priority, and Full HD video recording at up to 60p.

The newly designed 28mm f/2.8-equivalent lens is lighter, sharper, and more responsive, built with seven elements in five groups, including aspherical, high-refractive, and low-dispersion glass. It supports a dedicated macro mode with close-up focusing between 2.4" and 4.7", an integrated ND filter for exposure control, and crop modes simulating 35mm and 50mm fields of view. The body has been slimmed down for a more secure grip while retaining a lightweight magnesium alloy build. A new DB-120 battery provides about 250 shots per charge, memory has increased to 53GB, and storage now uses microSD. The control layout has been redesigned, with the ADJ lever replaced by a dial for more intuitive handling. A rear 3.0" 1.04m-dot touchscreen LCD uses an air-gapless design for visibility outdoors, with auto brightness adjustments and an Outdoor Monitor setting. The GR IV includes USB-C for charging and data transfer, plus Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for seamless wireless connectivity through the GR WORLD app. Optional accessories include the slim GF-2 external flash with auto exposure, the BJ-12 charger for dual batteries, and the GA-3 lens adapter for 49mm filters or the GW-4 wide conversion lens. The GR IV refines the classic GR formula, offering a powerful, portable, and highly responsive tool for photographers who value speed, sharpness, and creative flexibility.
