The Hasselblad 907X 50C is a modular medium format camera that blends the aesthetic and handling of classic Hasselblad film cameras with advanced digital features. The system includes the 907X camera body and the CFV II 50C digital back, creating a flexible platform that allows for a range of shooting styles. As the smallest and lightest medium format body Hasselblad has produced, the 907X measures just over an inch thick and weighs only seven ounces. Its sleek design recalls the company’s iconic 500-series V-system cameras and acts as a bridge between the V-mount digital back and the X-system lens mount, allowing compatibility with XCD lenses and a variety of adapted optics.

The CFV II 50C is an upgraded digital back designed to work with the included 907X body and most Hasselblad V-system cameras dating back to 1957. Inspired by the design of the A12 and A16 film backs, the CFV II integrates digital capabilities around a 50MP 43.8 by 32.9mm CMOS sensor. This sensor produces high-resolution images with up to 14 stops of dynamic range, 16-bit color depth, and an ISO range of 100 to 25600. Hasselblad’s Natural Color Solution enhances this performance by delivering realistic tones and smooth color gradations. A tilting 3.2-inch touchscreen with 2.4 million dots evokes the feel of waist-level shooting, while also improving usability and control. The lithium-ion battery is housed internally to maintain a clean profile, and built-in Wi-Fi supports remote control and wireless file transfer using Phocus Mobile 2.

Compact and intuitive, the 907X camera body provides access to X-system mirrorless lenses and a wide array of adapted options, including HC, HCD, V, and XPan lenses. This compatibility enables broader lens selection, especially for wide-angle compositions, when compared to traditional V-system setups. The CFV II 50C sensor supports a wide ISO range and records 16-bit RAW files or JPEGs, producing lifelike image quality with excellent detail and tonal nuance. The combination of sensor resolution and color science results in images with natural skin tones and film-like transitions, even in high-contrast scenes.

Beyond still photography, the CFV II 50C also records high-resolution video at 2.7K and Full HD using the full width of the sensor. Video is captured at 29.97 frames per second and supports external microphones via a 3.5mm input jack. The digital back’s V-system interface allows it to be used not only with the 907X body but also with a wide range of Hasselblad V film cameras and third-party view and technical cameras. The rear LCD offers a 60Hz refresh rate for smooth viewing, intuitive touchscreen control, and advanced autofocus features like drag-to-position and pinch-to-resize.

The internal battery charges via USB-C, keeping the profile clean and compact, much like traditional film backs. Dual SD card slots support UHS-II speeds for fast data handling. With built-in Wi-Fi, the system can connect to Phocus Mobile 2 for wireless control and file management using an iPad Pro or iPad Air. USB 3.0 Type-C connectivity allows for tethered shooting, image transfer, and battery charging directly from a computer or power source. The system is optimized for use with XCD lenses, which feature leaf shutters for flash sync speeds up to 1/2000 second. Phocus Mobile 2 enables full-resolution editing, rating, and export, as well as direct control of the camera, while the desktop version supports traditional tethered workflows.
