This is the widest Micro Four Thirds lens to get the Leica badge, with Leica camera AG's strict quality standards. With a 100 degree angle of view, this lens give you an expansive view while still allowing for smooth bokeh and depth of field control with the f1.7 aperture.
The fluorine coating applied to the front lens prevents the sticking of oil-based dirt, in addition to a dust and splash resistant construction that protects the lens system inside from sand, rain, and more. This lens is also tough enough to withstand harsh environments at -10 degrees centigrade.
Both linear and nonlinear manual focus options are offered with this lens. The nonlinear focus setting accelerates the focus movement in accordance with the speed of the focus ring rotation. The linear focus setting moves the focus at a constant speed in accordance with the rotating angle of the focus ring.
