Panasonic Lumix S5 II Mirrorless Camera with 24-60mm f2.8 Lens

Created for content creators who need reliable performance for both photography and video, the second generation Panasonic Lumix S5 II mirrorless camera introduces a wide range of upgrades designed to support modern hybrid workflows. With a newly developed sensor design and an updated L2 processing engine, the S5 II becomes the first Lumix camera to feature Phase Hybrid autofocus, delivering fast and accurate subject acquisition. Fully utilizing its 24.2MP sensor and improved processor, the camera can record high quality 6K video for up to 30 minutes while also offering unlimited 4K recording. Video shooters also benefit from a newly developed Active I.S. system that improves stability during walking shots and handheld motion.

The upgraded full frame 24.2MP CMOS sensor works in combination with the L2 image processor to deliver improved sensitivity, dynamic range, and autofocus accuracy. The newly introduced Phase Hybrid AF system uses 779 phase detection points to significantly enhance subject tracking and focus reliability. With a native sensitivity range from ISO 100 to 51200 that can be expanded from ISO 50 to 204800, the camera performs well across a wide variety of lighting conditions. For fast action, the S5 II supports full resolution continuous shooting at up to 9 frames per second with the mechanical shutter and up to 30 frames per second with the electronic shutter. Sensor shift stabilization also enables a High Resolution mode that captures and combines eight separate exposures into a single 96MP raw or JPEG image, producing extremely detailed files with a resolution of 12000 by 8000 pixels when used on a tripod with static subjects.

Video performance is a major strength of the S5 II, offering a flexible and professional feature set for creators. Full frame 6K recording at 30p with 10 bit color can be captured for extended sessions, while unlimited recording is available in both DCI and UHD 4K at 60p with 10 bit 4 2 2 color. High speed 120p recording supports smooth slow motion playback, and RAW video output over HDMI is available with an optional software upgrade. V Log is preinstalled to capture a flat gamma profile with more than 14 stops of dynamic range, allowing precise color control in post production and seamless matching with footage from Panasonic VariCam cameras.

Borrowing technology from Panasonic's broadcast video line, Dual Native ISO helps balance low noise and high sensitivity in changing lighting environments. Each pixel uses two dedicated circuits, with a Low ISO circuit optimized for standard shooting profiles and a Low Noise circuit designed for higher sensitivity operation. This system allows the camera to maintain clean image quality whether shooting in natural light, low light, or log based video profiles.

As the first Lumix mirrorless camera to adopt Phase Hybrid autofocus, the S5 II delivers dependable and accurate focus tracking in situations that were previously challenging. Video shooters benefit further from the Active I.S. system, which enhances stabilization while moving and recording to produce smoother footage during walking or panning shots.

The L mount provides broad compatibility with lenses from across the L Mount Alliance, offering a large mount diameter and short flange distance that supports a wide variety of modern and legacy optics. The camera is also compatible with classic and modern anamorphic lenses that have been used in motion picture production for decades.

A high resolution OLED electronic viewfinder with 3.68 million dots offers a clear and immersive view with 0.78 times magnification and selectable refresh rates of 60 or 120 frames per second. The rear 3.0 inch LCD features 1.84 million dots and a free angle design that supports high, low, and front facing shooting positions, while touch functionality allows intuitive control over settings and playback. An eight direction joystick and streamlined menu layout further improve handling and operational speed.

Connectivity and expandability are well supported, with a USB C port for fast data transfer and in camera battery charging, a full size HDMI Type A port for video output, a remote shutter port, and dedicated microphone and headphone jacks for advanced audio monitoring. Dual SD card slots with UHS II support provide flexible recording options such as backup recording, file separation, or extended capacity.
