The OM-5 Mark II Mirrorless Camera returns to OM System's signature combination of portability and high-resolution imaging, now enhanced with improved handling and ease of use. Designed for creators who embrace outdoor exploration, it features a USB-C port for faster data transfer and convenient power delivery. This port supports on-the-go charging using separately available power banks, making all-day shooting more accessible in any environment.

A new top-plate button offers direct access to computational photography tools like High-Res Shot, Live ND, Focus Stacking, HDR, and Multiple Exposure, removing the need to dive into menus. The OM-5 Mark II introduces two new low-light-friendly shooting modes: Night Vision, which highlights dark scenes with clarity, and Hand Held Assist, which provides real-time feedback for long exposure stability when shooting without a tripod.

New color profiles, OM Cinema 1 and 2, help users capture video footage with a cinematic feel straight out of the camera, requiring no special grading. The camera also includes OM System's redesigned menu interface, which debuted on the OM-1 Mark II and OM-3. This intuitive menu structure is simple to navigate, even for newcomers. A refined handgrip design adds improved comfort for single-handed operation in challenging shooting conditions.

Returning from the previous model, the 20.4MP Live MOS sensor and TruePic IX processor offer quick performance, ISO sensitivity up to 25600, and continuous shooting up to 30 frames per second using Pro Capture mode, which buffers images before the shutter is fully pressed to help freeze fast-moving subjects. Its advanced autofocus system includes 121 cross-type phase-detection points and 121 contrast-detection points, offering fast, precise focusing even in difficult lighting.

Focusing features include Group Target for tracking birds or wildlife, Face and Eye Detection, and Starry Sky AF, along with customizable AF area settings for vertical and horizontal orientations. The in-body 5-axis image stabilization system minimizes blur from camera shake by up to 6.5 stops, or up to 7.5 stops when paired with select lenses. This stabilization supports both still photography and video recording, and is especially helpful with High-Res Shot and Hand Held Assist modes for detailed, sharp results in low light.

The camera records 4K video in both DCI and UHD formats. DCI captures true 24p cinematic frame rates, while UHD goes up to 30p. Built-in stereo mics and an external mic jack enable high-quality audio capture, and video recording is only limited by available storage and battery life. It can also record 4K time-lapses and function as a UVC/UAC webcam when connected to compatible devices through USB-C. For visual feedback while filming, a red frame appears on the LCD, and a front-facing red tally light indicates active recording.

In addition to Night Vision and Hand Held Assist, other creative tools include Live ND 16, which blends exposures to simulate slow shutter effects ideal for water and cloud movement. Focus stacking composites multiple frames for extended depth of field, while High-Res Shot delivers up to 80MP images using a tripod or 50MP handheld. Live Composite gradually builds long exposures without overexposing key areas, and Vertical Video mode shoots in 9:16 format for social media-ready content.

The OM-5 Mark II is built to endure the elements with an IP53 rating, offering protection from dust, moisture, and freezing temperatures down to 14F. A high-resolution 2.36-million-dot electronic viewfinder provides a clear view for composing shots, while the 3.0-inch vari-angle touchscreen LCD allows flexible positioning and intuitive control. A single BLS-50 battery supports around 310 shots per charge, and the camera uses a single UHS-II compatible SD card slot for quick data handling.

Accessory support includes a microphone port, hot shoe, micro-USB, micro-HDMI, and a 2.5mm remote terminal. Wireless connectivity through built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth makes it easy to transfer images and control the camera remotely via smartphone or tablet, rounding out the camera's versatile performance for modern-day creators.
