Just like medium format film cameras in the past, the GFX 50R has been developed in pursuit of a compact and lightweight system while delivering the ultimate picture quality for everyday snapshots and street photography. This new model expands the potential for the GFX system and makes medium format output even more accessible.

- The high-performance X Processor Pro processing engine optimizes the camera's performance in a variety of areas including stunning color reproduction with Fujifilm's unique Film Simulation modes, in-camera RAW conversion to the 8-bit TIFF format and accurate contrast AF.
- 3.69M-dot EVF with 100% coverage. It uses dedicated rich lens elements to achieve extremely high definition finder live view and offers a locking diopter adjustment range of -4m-1 to?2m-1.

- Change settings with only the front and rear Command Dials by setting the Aperture Ring to "C" and the Shutter Speed Dial to "T".
- Newly-developed focal-plane shutter is a low-noise mechanical shutter that withstands 150,000 actuations*, offers shutter speeds up to 1/4000 sec and has an electronic first curtain. Electronic shutter offers up to 1/16000sec.
- Flash sync speed is up to 1/125sec. When using the optional EF-X500, which supports FP mode, flash sync can be as fast as 1/4000sec.
- 117-point (9 x 13 / maximum of 425 points when miniaturized) high precision contrast AF can be adjusted using the Focus Lever for accurate focusing.
- Face and eye detection AF. Priority can be given to either the right or left eye.
- Four metering modes: Multi, Spot, Average and Center Weighted.
- Continuous shooting at up to 3.0 fps until the memory card fills up in JPEG, up to 8 frames in RAW, and up to 13 frames in compressed RAW.

- Six types of bracketing (including focus bracketing) are available to capture multiple frames at different settings with a single press of the shutter release. This function works with both JPEG and RAW formats.
- Full HD video recording (1920x1080, 29.97p / 25p / 24p / 23.98p, 36Mbps).
- Four types of histograms: RGB and brightness, each with or without highlight warnings.
- Interval timing shooting allows you to set an interval between 1 sec-24 hours for shooting 1 - infinity frames.
- Voice Memo Function allows for up to 30 seconds of notes about the image you are shooting.

- Capture One Express FUJIFILM (free) supports RAW conversion for files from the GFX and X Series range of cameras**. The software uses a unique cataloging format to manage pictures, enabling fast processing of individual images regardless of the quantity or size while allowing FUJIFILM's unique Film Simulation modes to be applied during RAW conversion.
