The gear-type stepping motor (STM) and dual-lens autofocus mechanism drive the left and right lenses simultaneously, making autofocus operation straightforward. The electronic focusing/control ring and left-right focus difference adjustment switch allow precise adjustment of the left-right focus differential.

Autofocus is limited to subjects within the image circle of the left lens, and Servo AF is unavailable. Users must switch to One-Shot AF or manual focus before recording movies.

The RF mount and compact folded optical design make this lens easy to use in confined spaces. Weighing just 10.2oz, it fits conveniently in most bags, ideal for travel.
