Join Derek Crowe November 6th at 6:30 as he shares photos from his previous coverage of the Yukon Quest and the Arctic Ultra. As well, he will cover the logistical and creative planning required for a race of this magnitude and share many humorous stories of when things don't go according to plan.
The Yukon Quest is a challenging 1000 mile sled dog race from Whitehorse, YT to Fairbanks Alaska. It takes place yearly in February in one of the coldest and harshest climates in North America. This race tests the physical and mental endurance of both dogs and mushers.
Michelle Phillips is the top Canadian long distance dog musher - she has completed 6 Yukon Quests and 9 Iditarod's. She has won numerous awards for her dog-care and devotion to her team. Derek Crowe will be documenting Michelle's race from Whitehorse to Dawson City in temperatures plunging as low as minus 45 degrees Celsius. Derek will use his experience participating in and documenting the Yukon Arctic Ultra bike race to prepare for this new challenge.
